5 Brilliant April Fool’s Campaigns If You Need a Laugh
Here at 42 HQ, we’re willing to do anything it takes to provide an educational experience you would not find anywhere else. This April Fool’s we burnt the midnight oil looking to find the best ideas and campaigns from this International Day of Levity. Here are 5 of our favourites and we sincerely hope they bring a smile to your face:
1. BBC - The Spaghetti Harvest
This is perhaps the most legendary April Fools of all. In 1957 the BBC’s Panorama programme produced a hoax documentary about Spaghetti trees in Switzerland. Viewers were so intrigued they wrote in asking where to get a spaghetti bush.
2. Mark Zuckerberg x H&M
When you think of Mark Zuckerberg what word comes to mind? To H&M it was fashion. In 2016 they announced they were launching an exclusive collection of grey t-shirts and jeans. However, even they made no comment on the haircut.

3. Rent the Runway – For Dogs!
In 2018 Rent the Runway created what may be the most plausible entry on this list. An option to rent the high end couture so you and your precious pooch could dress to match.
Since the April Fools, Hobbs, Zara, Barbour and Gucci have created human and canine collections.

4. Duolingo Gives you a Real-Life Push!
Did you find Duolingo’s push notifications not enough to motivate you to continue your 2-day Spanish streak? In 2019, Duolingo introduced the idea of their mascot Duo interrupting your day to make sure you didn’t abandon your goals.
5. The Petlexa – if Alexa Understood Your Pet?
It’s a question every pet owner has. What if animals could tell me exactly what they wanted? Amazon imagines this with hilarious results in 2017. Luckily this isn’t real otherwise any cat owner would regularly find themselves with sushi platters.
