Meik Wiking's Funniest Quotes

Meik Wiking's Funniest Quotes

Hot on the heels of our last post comes another Meik Wiking feature.

This time, it’s a collection of his funniest quotes.

If you’ve read any of his books, we can confirm that he’s as wonderful in person as he is on the page.

And if you ever find yourself in Copenhagen, we highly recommend visiting the Happiness Museum founded by Meik’s company, The Happiness Research Institute.

Judging by what he says below, he’s also (like all Danes) very fond of cakes.

Who can blame him, right?

Hopefully, they’ll make you smile and as well as give you an insight into what makes Danmark one of the happiest countries in the world.

“Live life today like there is no coffee tomorrow.”
“Like most things, the more we have of something, the less happiness we derive from it. The first slice of cake: awesome. The fifth slice: not so good.”
“Remember: Danes are direct descendants of Vikings, so we enjoy watching things burn: bonfires, candles, villages. It’s all good.”
“In Denmark, everyone wears black. You want to aim for a look that would be fitting for Karl Lagerfeld’s funeral: stylish but monochrome.”
“The key to surviving four seasons in one day is layers. You should always bring another cardigan. You can’t hygge when you are cold.”
“To paraphrase one of the greatest philosophers of our time-Winnie-the-Pooh-when asked how to spell a certain emotion, “You don’t spell it, you feel it.””
“It doesn’t cost money to light a room correctly – but it does require culture.”
“You can’t buy happiness but you can buy cake which is almost the same thing.”
“Meetings are employees talking about work that they have done or work that they are going to do, and managers are people whose job it is to interrupt people.”
“They say that your superheroes say a lot about you. Americans have Superman, Spiderman, and Batman. Danes have . . . well . . . Cakeman.”

We’re such big fans of Meik and The Happiness Research Institute that we’ve made two courses with him: The Happy Course and The Even Happier Course.

Each is packed with interesting facts and figures about happiness, as well as practical tips for bringing more feelings of well-being into your life.
