John Yorke podcast - Why Storytelling is so important

John Yorke podcast - Why Storytelling is so important

What storytelling is, fundamentally, is knowledge wrapped up in such a way for maximum viral transmission.
— John Yorke (in this podcast)

John Yorke is the author of INTO THE WOODS – the biggest selling screenwriting book in the UK for the last six years.

The book is not a ‘how to’ of screenwriting - there are hundreds of books already out there that do that.

Into The Woods, is more of a ‘why’ we need and react to storytelling.

John Yorke surgically dissects narrative structure - examining the protagonist, the antagonist, crisis and more, while he elegantly untangles the deepest roots of storytelling.

This heavily researched book explains how and why this underlying shape still holds audiences spellbound.

From ancient myths to big-budget blockbusters, he gets to the root of the stories that are all around us, every day.
