This year, the event went virtual.

You can watch all of the talks on Ogilvy Consulting UK’s YouTube channel.
To whet your appetite, here are three of the most interesting things we learnt at Nudgestock2020.
1. The Williams Behaviour Change Model
Bri Wiliams is the founder of Australia's first and only consultancy to apply behavioural economics to everyday business and personal effectiveness.
Her presentation at Nudgestock2020 was fantastic, during her talk, Bri expertly brought her ‘Williams Behaviour Change Model’ to life.
It demonstrates that in order to get from behaviour A to behaviour B, we need to pass through 3 stages of resistance:
1. Lazy (i.e. Don’t want to think about it),
2. Overwhelmed (i.e. Don’t know what to do)
3. Scared (i.e. Don’t want to commit).
I think we can all identify with these feelings when attempting something new!

3. Five happiness insights from one of the world’s experts
Psychologist Dr. Laurie Santos is an expert on human cognition, its origins, and the evolutionary biases that influence our all-too imperfect life choices.
She is also immensely knowledgeable in how behavioural change through positive psychology can lead to a happy and fulfilling life.
So much so that Laurie created a course on happiness and well-being that was so meaningful that it became the most popular class taken at Yale in over 316 years!
In her talk, she shed light on the following 5 key insights she’s learnt from her study of this fascinating topic:
1- Your mind lies to you about what will make you happy
The things that we think will make us happy like more money, a better job or a promotion, often don’t. Avoid the temptation of the hedonic treadmill. Once you’re on it, you can never get off it.
2 - Make time for making social connections
We are social creatures and surprise, surprise we are at our happiest when spending time with our favourite people. Make it a priority to do so in your life.
3 - Make time for gratitude every day
Our brains are evolutionary hard-wired to focus on the negative. Making time for being thankful for the small things in life can help to balance this out. In doing so, you’ll feel happier.
4 - Reduce your mind-wandering and become present
We spend to much time living our lives in the past and the future. Instead, we are better served by focusing on the present. It is here that most of life’s joys are to be found.
5 - Become wealthy in time, not money
Time is your most precious resource. While you can always make more money, you can’t make more time, so focus your efforts accordingly.
