Turn off your TV and don’t buy the morning paper.
Resist the temptation to listen to the radio.
It’s not difficult but the positive impact will be profound.
How the news impacts on your happiness:
1) The news is never a 100% accurate representation of what’s going on so shouldn’t be taken at face value. Things are often not as bad as they are portrayed so your worry is disproportionate.
2) Good news doesn’t sell. That doesn’t mean that good things aren’t happening all the time around the world.
3) Bad things are often happening far away from where you live. For this reason there is little you can do to solve the problem. It’s not that you don’t care it’s just that you can’t do anything about it. You just suffer the anxiety of knowing that.
